About the Nissan GT-R
The GT-R name started on the Skyline. The R32 (1989–1994) brought back the badge with the twin-turbo RB26DETT and ATTESA all-wheel drive, earning the “Godzilla” nickname on Japanese touring car grids. The R33 (1995–1998) and R34 (1999–2002) refined the formula.
The R35 (2007 onward) dropped the Skyline name and moved to the hand-built VR38DETT V6. Older Skyline GT-Rs are now 25+ years old and legal to import to the US.
